42 Dugg names his top five favorite rappers


Artists naturally gravitate towards other creators to whom they relate. Jill Scott. During his XXL Freshman 2021 video shoot, the chosen one of Detroit 42 Dugg gifted his top five favorite rappers, all of whom got a starting spot for the same reason.

Heard in a good 80 percent of his words, Dugg, now a 2021 XXL First-year student, was raised by concrete. The rappers who could make the everyday soundtrack to survive the fittest lifestyle the 26-year-old rhymer lived in Motor City are the people he gravitated to the most.

Alongside Lil Baby, it was actually the GCM big boss who pushed 42 to take rap seriously.

Following the mention of his label head, the rising star mentions 2007 XXL Freshman Boosie BadAzz. The two had the chance to spit side-by-side on Mozzy and Tsu Surf’s 2019 track “Everybody On Go”. And on the note of features, Future is then one of Dugg’s favorite rappers. The Atlanta artist helped make Dugg’s “Maybach” sound so wavy. Ultimately, DMX gets a punch for last position, further proving impact X left on rap is forever.

“I just feel like every artist appeals to my life in a different way, in terms of something they’ve been through, something they’re rapping. Just nine yards,” Dugg remarks to about his five choices.
