Best hip-hop songs of 2021 so far

The year 2020 in music felt like a drag. Aside from a number of brave acts that dropped new music last year, many rappers and singers were sitting on hard drives full of new songs and albums, waiting for the COVID-19 quarantine to lift and that the outside opens. Finally, times have changed. And with the resumption of concerts, clubs and parties that you can attend without fear for your health (for the most part), rappers love Duck, J. Cole and Tyler the creator, among others, have made up for lost time with a large number of exits in 2021 so far.

Although he faked the january fall of her Boy in love certified album, Drake made noise with an appetizer called Scary Hours 2 in March to hold people back. The three-track exit housed yet another coveted collaboration with Rick Ross, “Lemon Pepper Freestyle”. The mesmerizing song, co-produced by artists like Keanu Beats, Boi-1da, and more, returns a live iteration of Quadron’s “Pressure”, providing a refined and luxurious rap base for the fire-breathing two.

Since the start of his career, Tyler, The Creator has dropped a new project every two years. Following the release in 2019 of Grammy Award Winner IGOR, he came out of the cut and released Call me if you get lost end of June. the Billboard 200 LP No.1 in Sales, which is a certified Gangsta Grillz effort with DJ Drama, has more bars than a blank notebook of sheet music, not only from Tyler, but also from artists like YoungBoy Never Broke Again and TyDolla $ ign on “Wusyaname”. Track, produced by Wolf Haley himself, rework H-Town’s “Back Seat (Wit No Sheets)” and to butter it even more, Ty Dolla $ ign’s voice is sprayed over it.

J. Cole has one of the best mixtape catalogs in rap. He brought back that hungry, better but hungry energy for his highly anticipated sixth album, Off-season, which saw a release date a few months ago in May. With a 12-track offering that defines the phrase “no skips”, its quirk is sharper than ever, evident on records like “My.Life” with 21 Savage and Morray. In what looks like a sequel to “A Lot”, all three XXL First year students—Cole in 2010, 21 in 2016 and Morray this year — deliver solid rhymes to a breakneck pace co-produced by Jake One and Wu10. Cole marvels with a ruthless approach, verse 21 is jam-packed with quotes, and Morray’s hook will give everyone goosebumps.

The high-quality performance has made these songs undeniable choices when it comes to the best of the year so far. But of course, they weren’t the only ones who put in silver balls. Below are other hot rocks that made commercial and underground waves, Polo G‘s “Rapstar”, The Slump God ski goggles‘s “Dr Suess”, City girls“” Twerkulator “, Sonic Silk‘s “Leave The Door Open” and many more.
