In an interview on the Wallo media personality podcast, Where is WalloOn April 30, the New Orleans high record manager explains how much he is enjoying the music catalogs of his current and former artists from Cash Money Records.
“We allow music,” Birdman revealed. “I just started letting people taste my shit. So yeah, that’s a bunch of ways you can make money with your masters. We generate $ 20 [million] to $ 30 million a year just on our masters. “
During the label’s existence, a number of rappers have been signed to Cash Money Records such as Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Tyga and more. Wayne, however, officially left the label in 2018, after settling a lawsuit with Cash Money. while Drizzy broke up the following year.
Nonetheless, several rhymers over the years have called on Baby for his poorly managed business relationships and contractual agreements.
Lil Wayne is also among the rappers who were unhappy with the label and at one point had a very public dispute with Birdman and Cash Money Records over the delay in his. Tha Carter V album.
After several delays in the release date of the album for the fifth installment of Weezy Tha Carter series, Wayne tweeted in December 2014, “I’m a prisoner and so is my creativity. Again, I’m so sorry and I don’t blame you if you are tired of waiting for 4 me and this album.
The next year, Lil Wayne sued Cash Money Records for $ 51 million, claiming that the label and its CEO, Birdman, had violated his agreement and owed Wayne millions of dollars for blocking the release of his album.
