Since being released from Clinton Correctional Facility in upstate New York in February, Bobby shmurda appeared to be on a straight and narrow track while focusing on delivering her highly anticipated album. As fans eagerly await Bobby to launch his first project since 2014 Shmurdaville, the 26-year-old rapper gives listeners a taste of what to expect on the album.
During an interview on Maino presents: Kitchen Talks Thursday (April 15), Bobby Shmurda confirmed that he is working with the likes of DaBaby, Quavo, 42 Dugg, Lil uzi vert and eventually Jay Z to bring his next project to life.
“Dude, we have so much new music coming,” began the rhyme of “Bobby Bitch”. “We have music with the biggest artists, from Maino, Quavo, DaBaby, 42, Uzi, Rowdy, Jay. There’s so much shit coming out it’s gonna be a hot summer.”
Bobby didn’t name Jay-Z by his full name, and interviewers didn’t say whether Shmurda meant Jay-Z, Jay Electronica, or any other rapper named “Jay”. Still, it’s very possible that the two generations of Brooklyn rappers will come together to give the New York natives their next anthem.
Dance pioneer Shmoney was released from prison on February 23 after serving six years and two months behind bars. The rapper, born Ackquille Jean Pollard, agreed to enter into a plea deal and pleaded guilty to one count of third degree conspiracy and one count of possession of weapons in 2016. He was initially arrested with 12 members of his GS9 crew, including Rowdy Rebel, on December 17, 2014.
