Cypher XXL Freshman 2021 by DDG, Lakeyah, Morray and Coi Leray

the 2021 XXL First-year student the cyphers are finally here and it is better to believe that they are starting with a bang. The first group tasked with showing and proving why they landed a spot on the coveted cover consists of the 10th winner. DDG, Signatory of music quality control Lakeyah, soul crooner Morray and scholar of social networks Coi Leray.

Each of the four acts uses bull bars and an Auto-Tune-less chirp to skate to an enchanting beat, twirled with soothing key melodies and pounding bass drops. This calming foundation is established by none other than Internet money Creative Nick mira, which serves as this year’s Freshman beat curator. Nick, who recently started his own record label Mira Touch, produced the beats of every number with a few producers from Internet Money.

Michigan DDG is the first rapper on the starting blocks with a dominant verse about wearing clips that are longer than Jamaican hair, turning the cheek on his enemies, and driving up the numbers in his bank account. “Niggas change for dollars / I try to be positive, but the drama / He’s always following my mom / But I guess that’s the side effects of the commas,” he snaps briskly.

Next is the seed of Milwaukee Lakeyah, which picks up where the YouTuber turned rapper DDG left off. The self-proclaimed “Female Goat” takes a ruthless approach to rhythm as usual, and features a hot rhyme about beating the odds. “How is she a freshman when she left college? / And how did she get so strong when she looks like a model? / Buy a life of a bitch, legally I can’t even buy myself a bottle / They know I’m a problem, ”she vomited sharply in just under a minute.

After co-signing Lakeyah’s verse preceding his own with a precise “fucking fire”, Morray slips with a stream of songs that can be heard on tracks like the “Quicksand” which sells for gold. Really from the top of the dome, the Fayettenam stepper actually arrived with a chip on his shoulder and a strap on his hip. “Damn, don’t write it down / Damn, I’d rather spit it out / Niggas talk about toilet bowls, bitch I’m shitting / Like, whoa, what do you mean, you want the dough? bullshit, but I’m the one got the feeds, ”he says neutrally.“ Right off, bitch, that shit is hot, what the fuck you know niggas? / When I come out of the strip club, I come with the sticks. “

Boston and New Jersey reppin ‘ Coi Leray swaps his red mug on the mic and brings things home with a quote-worthy ballad about camaraderie and commas. “COI, I love it when he says my name, yeah / Low-key, that my sneaky little link, yeah / Yeah, I love when he fucks me to the beat, yeah / He’s a freak, fell in love with me, let’s go, “she spits. Showing her versatility, she hums during the second half of her rhyme before embarking on a mini twerking session.

Its final lines are built around the phrase “We all get money,” which Morray uses as a basis for delving into his church-cultivated harmonies for the outro. The rhythm fades as he greets his group for their performance: “XXL, we in this. Yes, DDG, we made it / Lakeyah! Yes, we did, ”he stamped, giving confidence to his first year comrades.
