This week some of your favorite rappers are bringing up the perfect soundtracks for the 4th of July weekend. There are newcomers from an old XXL First-year student, a Californian rapper who is dropping his first solo project and a rising rhymer from Michigan with a lot of lyrics aimed at the opposite sex.
Following its efforts in 2020, PTSD, G Herbo delivers his new 19-track album, 25. Before the release of the LP, the 2016 XXL First-year student dropped a trailer chronicling everything he’s been through up to this point in his life. “I never see myself getting this far in life,” the Chicago rapper said. “I’ve always wanted to be someone since I was a kid. I’ve seen death far too many times. I’ve been shot, I’ve been in jail. I’ve been broke. And I have. Took whatever came with that street shit. All the murder, the fear, get over that fear. Now I’m 25. Wednesday (June 30), Fenix Flexin, co-founder and former member of Los Angeles-based band Shoreline Mafia, released their first mixtape, Fenix Flexin Vol. 1. The band contains 15 songs in total and appearances by Drakeo The Ruler, Rob Vicious and the late Mac P Dawg, who was shot and killed in April last year. The release is led by the single “NDS” and contains a number of laid back and relaxing tracks with a West Coast flavor.
Same day, Flint, Michigan native ON Jay, known for his super catchy track “Coochie”, released his new project, Coochie Chronicles. Jay’s latest work contains 15 songs and appearances from 2021 XXL First year Coi Leray and more. ON JayThe remix of “Triple S” with Coi, arrived a week before the project. Coochie Chronicles is his second project this year, after ninja warrior, released in January.
