J. Cole, 21 Savage, Kodak Black and more – New projects this week

The temperature is rising as summer approaches and this week features some highly anticipated new albums.

After months of hints, teasing, and speculation, it’s a Cole world again. J. Cole released his latest album, The off-season. Following the arrival of “Interlude” on May 7, the rhymer from Fayetteville, NC delivers his sixth studio album. Before releasing the album, the CEO of Dreamville Records was spotted recording in the studio and even suggested the album was sold out because he had listened to it. Cole also confirmed on Monday (May 10) that he will “see” his fans on Friday (May 14), implying the release date of the effort. In conjunction with The off-season, J. Cole also delivered a 12-minute documentary titled, Lobbying: the off-season documentary, via YouTube.

Kodak Black has been grappling with legal issues for the past few years and as recently as April it pleaded guilty to assaulting a teenage girl following a 2016 incident in South Carolina. Despite his troubling issues, the Florida rhymer managed to make it to the studio to deliver his latest offering, Haitian boy Kodak. Project Baby first hinted at the project on Monday May 10 when they shared a clip from their new track, “Thermillia”. The next day, Kodak revealed the album art, which shows up dressed in red, holding what appears to be a machete. Next to the rhyme is a series of burning candles. Haitian boy Kodak is the sequel to his 2020 album, Bill Israel. The latest version also arrives about five months later. First, 21 Wild had the narration of the actor’s album Morgan freeman at Wild Mode 2 with Metro Boomin. And now the Atlanta-based rapper is releasing an EP for the reboot film produced by Chris Rock, Spiral: From the Book of Saw. 21 shared the visual teaser for the project earlier this week, including a caption that read, “I don’t think you’re ready. I don’t have anyone to play the wit.” Reports surfaced online in March that the rapper was spearheading the scary film’s soundtrack, which features guest appearances by Gunna, Young thug, Young Nudy, 21 years old Harold, Real recognize Rio, SG Tip and Millie Go Lightly.
