Things weren’t particularly friendly between Lil kim and Nicki Minaj over the years, but apparently things could be water under the bridge on Kim’s side these days.

On the red carpet ahead of the 2021 live broadcast BET Awards On Sunday (June 27), the Brooklyn rapper shared that she’d like to do a Verzuz against Nicki. Asked by DJ Envy, of Power 105.1’s The breakfast club morning radio show, who Kim would love to do a blow-for-blow battle against, she named the Queen rapper without hesitation.

“Now I have to ask,” Envy said. “I won’t say who yet, but would you make a Verzuz?”

the The Bella Mafia the rhymer replies: “Yes”. DJ Envy continues, “Is there anyone you would do it against or are you just ready for anyone?”

Lil kim declares in a neutral tone, “Nicki”. Envy, visibly surprised by Lil Kim’s response, replies, “Nicki? Really? I’d love to see this.”

Kim concludes, “Yes, me too.”

Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim have disagreed somewhat for at least a decade. Their rap beef dates back to 2008, when people claimed Nicki copied Kim from Young Money Entertainment’s 2008 artist mixtape, Sucka free. On the cover, the Queens, NY MC is squatting in a bra and panties, similar to Queen Bee’s 1996 Hardcore album cover. The two apparently met some time later at a Lil Wayne concert where Nicki allegedly asked Kim if things were going well between them. However, the story appears to be a phone game as there are apparently different versions of it. Nicki said Kim responded by saying things were going well, but Kim, on the other hand, said Nicki responded, “Imagine someone saying to me, ‘Are you okay? I’m going to twist his throat, rip out his larynx. “

Nicki then threw punches on Lil kim on Diddy’s “Hello Good Morning” remix in 2010. To this, Kim responded during an appearance at a club in Nicki Minaj’s hometown. From that point on, things just kept going on the left. Nicki reportedly called Kim a sore loser. Then, disse on wax while starting to fly.

Three years ago, during a 2018 radio appearance, Kim debunked claims that she and Nicki still get stronger.

A Verzus between Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj, two rap phenomena, would be a moment for culture.
