Lil Reese Grazed In The Eye By Bullet – Report

More details about shooting the Chicago rapper Lil reese come to light.

Reese, born Tavares Taylor, was shot dead in a shooting on Saturday May 15, along with two other people in a parking lot at 6 West Grand Avenue in Chicago. Originally suspected of having been shot in the thigh, an incident report from the Chicago Police Department confirms that the rapper was instead grazed in the eye during the shooting.

New details appear to explain the motive for the incident. The shooting appears to have been sparked by a dispute over a stolen vehicle, according to a report by Chicago Tribune, released May 15.

Before the shooting, a man reported that his Dodge Durango had been stolen. Using a GPS tracking device, the owner tracked the vehicle to the location of the downtown Grand Plaza Parking garage. The owner told police he tried to stop the occupants of the vehicle when someone started shooting, hitting the Durango and crashing it. Police sources tell the newspaper that the occupants of the vehicle got out and exchanged gunshots with someone. Police discovered two firearms in the vehicle.

According to the report, Reese told police he met the people of Durango to buy marijuana. The other two victims did not cooperate with the investigation and were only identified as a 20-year-old man and a 27-year-old man. The 27-year-old was repeatedly punched in his body and transported, along with Reese, to Northwestern Hospital and initially reported in critical condition. The 20-year-old was hit twice in the knee and taken to Stroger Hospital and is listed in good condition. Reese’s condition was rated fair.

A video of the aftermath of the incident taken from a nearby building shows police arriving at the scene and assessing the situation. There is another clip that does its turn that shows Reese bleeding from his mouth while being assisted by an officer who radio in an ambulance. The person taking the video accuses the 28-year-old rapper of stealing his car as he struggles to stay conscious.

Unlike previous reports, no suspects are currently in custody, according to a CPD incident report.

XXL contacted the Chicago Police Department and Lil Reese’s team for their comment.

This is the second time in less than two years that Reese has been the victim of a shooting. In November 2019 he was shot dead while driving on Pulaski Road and 167th Street, when witnesses say a gunman opened fire on Reese with an automatic weapon after chasing him in a car. Reese was shot in the neck but was taken to hospital by a passerby and recovered shortly after.
