NLE Choppa uses its platform to expose police violence in the United States

Wednesday (April 21), NLE Choppa wrote a tweet to his more than 968,800 Twitter followers describing his feelings about police brutality. In the 267 character message, the 2020 XXL First-year student equated the murders of US citizens by police officers to “premeditated murder”.

“At this point these cops are committing premeditated murders. It’s no coincidence this shit is planned before it even happens just to keep us vibrant and wanting justice that we don’t get. time before these marches turn into war war 💯 ”he tweeted.

The Memphis-raised rapper’s comments come after the trial of Derek chauvin, a former white policeman from Minneapolis, Minnesota, who murdered George Floyd, an unarmed black man, in May 2020, earlier this week. Chauvin was found guilty on all counts on Tuesday April 20. A panel of 12 jurors convicted Chauvin of unintentional second degree murder, third degree murder and second degree manslaughter.

Numerous members of the hip-hop community have come forward and introduced themselves on social media, celebrating Chauvin’s belief. However, the victory was short-lived. Shortly before the former cop’s conviction, Ma’Khia Bryant, a 16-year-old black girl based in Columbus, Ohio, was shot and killed by a white policeman named Nicholas Reardon, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

The shooting of Ma’Khai Bryant is currently under investigation. Video footage suggests Ma’Khai Bryant was killed on April 20 at around 4:45 p.m., moments before Chauvin’s verdict was announced. The Columbus Dispatch reported that police reportedly attended Bryant’s foster home after a 911 call. The police call arrived at 4:32 pm The caller asked for police to come and said someone one was trying to stab them as screams could be heard. The call was dropped before the police dispatcher attempted to get more information about what was going on. Bryant was reportedly in an argument with other girls.

She was holding a knife when Officer Reardon arrived at the scene. In the video of the incident, Bryant makes a movement towards another young woman, and this woman falls. Bryant then took a step towards another young woman. Reardon said “Get off” and then fired his gun at Bryant, who was shot. Four shots were heard.

Ma’Khia’s aunt Hazel Bryant later said Daily beast that his niece dropped the knife, but the officer opened fire anyway.

“The police will lie. I am so thankful that someone from the family is actually on the scene, ”said Hazel Bryant. “The police will lie. The police will take cover. They don’t care. At this point, I feel like they just want to kill black people. They are not there to protect and serve. This does not happen. It was a long time ago. They are not there to protect and serve. They are here to kill black people. “

In addition to NLE Choppa who spoke about his feelings towards the police this week, he had his own run-in with the cops last month. March 28 NLE Choppa was arrested in Davie, Florida on charges of Burglary of Unarmed Unoccupied Structure, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Possession of Cannabis 20 Grams Less / Synth Cann 3 GM Less and Possession of Alprazolam (Xanax).

The rapper admitted to police he jumped over a door in a tow yard to retrieve a watch from a vehicle that was towed in another incident. However, the vehicle was not on the towing ground. Cops found a Glock 27 and AK-47 Draco pistol in the Choppa vehicle and two other men were found at the crime scene. Seven grams of marijuana and three and a half pills of Xanax were also found in a vehicle backpack. Choppa admitted the bag belonged to him.

NLE Choppa has since been released from prison.
