The arrest came early Saturday morning (June 12) as the rapper and his team headed to an afterparty following the album’s release on Friday night (June 11). Information on the arrest is scarce at the moment, but Polo was arrested for resisting arrest, beating a police officer, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and threatening an official, according to Miami arrest records obtained by XXL.
Polo’s mother-manager Stacia Mac opened up about the arrest on social media immediately following the incident. She shared a video of what looked like dozens of police cars at the scene and angrily berated police for the incident. She also claimed that her other 16-year-old son was arrested by authorities and the police refused to give her their locations. She later urged Polo fans to contact the police department.
On Saturday morning, the Miami PD commented on the arrest on Twitter. “The Miami Police Department is aware of the incident involving Mr. Taurus Bartlett, also known as Polo G, and another minor male. We will provide updates as they become available.” , indicates the message. “
“WHERE ARE MY SON?! WHERE IS MY MINOR SON ??! ANSWER THAT !!!” Mac responded.
“None of these charges would be possible if the POLICE had not contacted my son Polo G !!!” she posted on Twitter, claiming the arrest was triggered by an unfair police stop. “He was NOT the driver. He was a PASSENGER in a professionally licensed vehicle with security. He moved intelligently and correctly. What more could he have done.”
XXL contacted the Miami Police Department and the Polo G team for comment.
