The age-old question of who is on a hip-hop artist’s five all-time favorite rappers list is always an interesting topic of discussion. When the answers are revealed, fans find out who inspired their favorite rapper or argue over their choices. At the time of 2021 XXL Cover shoot for the Freshman class in May, Winnie the Pooh named their top five coveted rappers.

Mr Pooh starts off his list with fellow Memphis native Big30 as one of his favorite rappers. “He’s tough,” shares the Memphis native. “You really have to listen to what he’s saying. He’s really talking about something.

He goes on to mention Gucci mane. Last year, Pooh signed a contract with Guwop’s 1017 Records / Atlantic Records label. “Gucci, it influences everything”, explains the rapper of “Back in Blood”. “The GOAT must give him his accessories.”

Further in the discussion, Pooh selects Kodak Black as one of his favorite rappers because he can relate to the rhymer from Pompano Beach, Florida. “I can relate to her story a lot,” Pooh says. “We were both young and he rapped before me, so I felt like I didn’t have to say anything at first.”

Lil wayne is also on Pooh’s list. “Lil Wayne is playing a role where his punchlines are his lyrics. [He] had a lot of metaphors, ”Pooh expresses. “He’s a GOAT for sure.”

Finally, Big Shiesty ranks among his favorite rappers. “Of course, I have to be on my own list,” explains the rising artist. “[I’m] working with different artists, making good music. Actually talking about something. Tell stories.”
