Toosii names his top five favorite rappers

Many rappers, old and new, have a deep reverence for their predecessors. This respect and admiration is sometimes rooted in commonalities of education or personal interests that are displayed on the wax. But not all rhymers admire the same artists who are probably on the next person’s best rapper list. For others, their musical curiosity may come from home, whether it is a family member or a sibling. For 2021 XXL First-year student Toosii, his five favorite rappers range from blood relatives to heavyweight eaters on the north side of the map.

As said in an interview with The breakfast club in May, growing up, Toosii adopted his harsher exterior from his father and his ability to understand and resonate with his mother’s women, allowing him to produce music that speaks on both ends of that spectrum. But make no mistake, the wheelhouse of the Syracuse, NY, Raleigh, North Carolina-born artist stretches beyond melodic love songs. He also raps about his struggles, trials, tribulations, and traumas, which explains the types of rappers that inspire him.

the Thanks for believing singer launches his list with his brother and his father. Toosii said XXL Last year that his main musical influences are these two male figures. “If it wasn’t for both of them, it wouldn’t be no Toosii make music, “he said bluntly.” Can you feel me? “

He then appoints a prominent poisonous spitter from Yonkers, NY. Jadakiss, which has achieved success as a member of LOX and also as a solo artist, he delivers a clever pun perfectly, using his distinctive tone, whether on a track for the streets or a joint for the ladies. “Jadakiss … Bar for bar … Nobody messes with Jada,” Toosii said.

Then a great rap from the Queensbridge section of Queens, NY Nas, a hip-hop veteran who creates introspective songs about adversity and against the odds. “Nas too,” adds the artist from the South Coast Music Group. “The same way. Bars.”

Recently, Toosii crowns his list with himself. “And then me because I feel versatile,” he concludes. “I am ahead of my time.”
