Young thug breathed some life into a stagnant rap game with the release of its new Slime Language 2 compilation album featuring his artists Young Stoner Life Records and a star cast including Lil baby, Future, Lil uzi vert, Lil durk and more. On Friday April 16, Thugger, along with Gunna, appeared on Zane Lowe’s New Daily Apple Music 1 Music to promote the album. During the conversation, YT explained how his connection to some of the artists he commissioned for the LP runs so much deeper than rap.
“I am ready to die for Future,” Thug said of his loyalty to Hendrix, whom he once had an ox with. “I’m ready to die by a Lil Baby, Durk, and Uzi.” I am ready to die by these people. Do you know what I’m saying? If it ever comes down to that, this shit has nothing to do with no music. They were part of the whole situation. There was a part of it all. I still have someone I had met. Do you know what I’m saying? I always turn them to the family. We don’t look at them as rappers. We all see each other as brothers and sisters. Brother, we really fight every day, bro.
Additionally, Drake, Kid Cudi, Travis Scott also appeared on the album. Thug spoke about the energy of working with the artists at the stadium. “It looked like a show,” Thug added. “It sounded like a Lollapalooza, Coachella. It just looked like a show. Every moment was successful. It was more of a performance. You have to introduce yourself. Do you know what I’m saying? Everyone is watching over there. Everyone here. Everyone in your shit. Everyone in the face, you’ve got to show yourself. It was just like that. Each moment.”
